Carpenters Skills Assessment
Are you interested in moving to Australia and working as a carpenter?
If you would like to relocate to Australia on a permanent basis you will need to complete and pass a mandatory skills assessment.
This skills assessment is required for visas such as:
- Skilled Independent 189 visa
- State nominated 190 visa
- Skilled regional (provisional) 491 visa
- Employer sponsored visas such as Employer Nominated 186 visa and the skilled employer sponsored regional (provisional) 494 visa
The Carpentry skills assessment has two stages.
Stage 1: Documentary Assessment & evidence
You will need to prove your work experience through pay and tax documents, statements of service and more.
- If you hold trade related qualifications, you’ll be asked to prove you have a minimum of 3 years’ work experience.
- If you don’t have trade related qualifications, you’ll be asked to prove you have a minimum of 5 years’ work experience.
- You will also need to prove that you have worked as a carpenter for a minimum of 12 months in the last 36 months. If you are a self-employed Electrician, you may be asked to have a video call with an assessor.
Stage 2: Technical Interview
The final part of your Carpenter skills assessment is an online technical interview.
Please note that if the assessor feels that you do not have the necessary skills to work in Australia as a qualified carpenter, he/she will ask you to provide further information which will be at your own cost.
Fees associated with your skills assessment (gst is not included)
- Documentary Evidence $1,280.00
- Technical interview $2,000.00
