Skilled Sponsored Visas
Do you have a sponsor in Australia?
This is usually a 3 step process:
- The Employer needs to apply to become an approved business sponsor.
- The Employer needs to nominate a position/role to be approved.
- Finally the applicant/employer lodges a valid visa application.
Subclass 482
TSS Skilled Visa (1 to 4 years) – Temporary Visa
This visa is a very popular visa in Australia especially with Ireland and the UK. This is a skilled visa put in place for an employer who has not found a suitable Australian candidate for a role in their business. The employer can then look at sponsoring a suitable overseas candidate.
Main requirements for the 482 visa:
- English requirements
- Skills and experience must be in line with the nominated position.
- The employer must make sure the employee’s salary is in line with the Australian labour market.
- Labour market testing must be carried out to make sure Australian citizens have a chance to apply for the role.
- The employer must make sure they pay a SAF levy at the nomination stage.
Subclass 186
Employer Nominated Scheme
This Australian visa is for highly skilled workers who want to work and live permanently in Australia.
How it works? The Australian employer nominates the skilled foreign worker/employee to work in Australia which will result in a permanent visa for the employee.
There are 3 main streams:
- Direct entry: the applicant does not have any two years with their Sponsor.
- Transitional stream: when you are on a 457 for 2 years and then apply for your permanent residency.
- Labour agreement stream – Applicant has specific term and conditions as part of a labour agreement.
Subclass 494
Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional Visa
Subclass 494 Sponsored visa has 10,000 places allocated per year.
- It requires employer sponsorship and the position would need to exist for at least 5 years.
- It has an age limit of 45 years old
- The applicant would need competent English
- Skilled employment experience of at least 3 years unless exempt
- A positive skills assessement and other criteria is also needed to make a successful application for this visa.
