Australia has some of the top universities in the world, if your main reason for going to Australia is studying, then you will need to apply for a student visa. Student visas are very popular with international students as its a great way to experience a different culture and lifestyle.
When obtaining a student visa you need to be organized and plan ahead of the commencement date of your chosen course. Contact your prospective college/university and keep the lines of communication open until you are granted entry into your course and visa.
Most Australian student visas allow you to work 40 hours per fortnight whilst your course is in session and unlimited work during holidays/term breaks. This is a good way of earning some extra cash and exploring what Australia has to offer.

- International students must be enrolled in a registered course prior to applying for their visa.
- Students must be able to support themselves financially throughout the duration of their course.
- Health and character criteria specific to their visa.

These are some of the main Australian student visa subclasses
Class TU Subclass 570
• English Language Intensive Courses for Overseas Students (ELICOS):
• This is a stand-alone English language courses that can lead to a Certificate I, II, III or IV, or that result in no formal Australian award.
Class TU Subclass 571
• Primary or secondary school course:
• This visa applies to primary and secondary school courses, and approved secondary school exchange programs.
Class TU Subclass 572
• Vocational education and training:
• This visa applies to Certificates I, II, III or IV (except ELICOS), Diploma, Advanced Diploma, Vocational Graduate Certificate or Vocational Graduate Diploma courses.
Class TU Subclass 573
• Higher education:
• Applies to a Bachelor Degree, Associate Degree, Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma, Masters by coursework, Higher Education Diploma or Higher Education Advanced Diploma.
Class TU Subclass 574
• Postgraduate Research:
• Applies to Masters by research or a Doctoral Degree.
